Kerala Piravi: History, Culture, Traditions and the Significance of Kerala Day
Kerala Piravi: History, Culture, Traditions and the Significance of Kerala Kerala Piravi, also known as Kerala Day, is observed every year on 1 November to commemorate the formation of the state of Kerala in 1956. The day is an opportunity to understand Kerala’s history, Malayalam language, cultural traditions, art forms, food, literature, natural beauty and the distinctive identity that developed over centuries. Kerala is often associated with green landscapes, backwaters, beaches and traditional art forms. However, the story of Kerala is much broader. Its present identity has been shaped by ancient communities, kingdoms, maritime trade, literature, social reform movements and the linguistic reorganisation of Indian states.
